What is counselling?

    • Counselling is when someone listens to how you feel.
    • A counsellor won't judge you or tell you what to do
    • They are there to understand and support you in working things through
    • It is FREE & CONFIDENTIAL

How does it help?

    • Sometimes just one session can make a big difference
    • You can use counselling to help you think more clearly, make decisions or changes in your life or come to terms with difficult past or present experiences
    • You can't always change your circumstances, but you may find easier ways of dealing with it

You may be struggling with things like:

Problems with family or friends

Anxiety or depression

Eating difficulties or weight problems

Bullying

Feeling isolated or lonely

Problems at school

The death or loss of someone close

Sexual abuse – past or present

Feelings of anger or violence

Drug or alcohol problems

Worries about being gay/your sexuality

Low self-esteem or lack of confidence

Or you may just be feeling down, and don't know why. No problem is too big or too small. You can come and talk to us about anything at all.

If we can't help , we will do our best to find you someone who can

If you want to talk to us:

Call in or phone 020 8744 1644 (see Contact Us for opening times and address). There is no charge – our services are absolutely free, and confidential!

What happens next?

•  You will be booked in with a counsellor to have a talk and decide whether counselling might be helpful to you

•  Sometimes there may be a short waiting list, but you will always get an initial appointment quickly

•  Appointments are weekly and each session lasts up to 50 minutes

•  There is no commitment to come back

•  Counsellors can offer one-off counselling or a series of sessions. It's up to you how long you come

•  You can choose to see a male or female counsellor

•  If you feel you don't get on with your counsellor, just ask to see someone else. We won't mind

•  There is no pressure. You choose whatever seems right for you
